Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. You can browse everything nearby, save places and get pings without one. You only need an account to say hello to a company through the app.
Why does the app want my location?
To show you what is near you. If you switch on pings, your phone also watches a short list of nearby places in the background and wakes the app when you reach one. The app never receives a trail of where you have been, and companies never see your position. You can change it any time under Me → Location and Me → Notifications.
Nothing shows up nearby.
Check that location is on, and that discovery is not paused under Me → Location. Public job openings are currently available in Denmark, Sweden, Germany and France; elsewhere there may be little to show yet.
How do I stop the pings?
Under Me → Notifications, switch pings off. The places your phone was watching are removed straight away.
Can companies see me?
No. The app does not show you to companies, and creating an account does not change that.
How do I delete my account?
Under Me → Account & privacy → Delete my account, or follow the steps on the delete account page.
I have a shop. How do I open my door?
Download the app, choose that you’re hiring and find your place on the map. We check every new place by hand, usually within a day, and then you can switch on Walk-ins welcome. It is free. Can’t find your place? Write to hello@hellomynameis.io.
