Who we are

HelloMyNameIs (“we”) provides the HelloMyNameIs mobile app and this website. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at hello@hellomynameis.io.

What we collect

The app is built to need very little. This is all of it:

• Your location, while the app is open, if you allow it. It is used to find openings near you and to show companies a rough distance.
• That you reached a place you asked to hear about, if you turn on proximity pings. This one deserves a paragraph of its own, below.
• Your preferences: the kind of work, hours and times you say you are open to. All optional; “anything” is the default.
• Your account, if you create one: an identifier from Apple, Google or your email address. There are no passwords. You can use the app without an account.
• Your first name and avatar, if you choose to add them, and the messages you exchange with a company inside the app.
• Basic technical data needed to run the service, such as your device type and app version, and crash reports.

There is no CV, no work history, no photo requirement and no public profile page. We do not collect contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers.

What we use it for

• Showing you openings and open doors near you, ranked by fit and distance.
• Letting a company you contact know that you are on your way.
• Delivering invitations (“pings”) from companies, if you have them switched on.
• Keeping the app running, secure and free of abuse.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Proximity pings, and why they are not tracking

If you switch them on, the app can tell you when you are passing somewhere worth walking into. It does this without following you.

Your phone is given a short list of circles - at most twenty, because that is what iOS allows - drawn around places we think you would want to hear about. Your operating system holds that list and watches it. HelloMyNameIs is woken only when you reach one of them, and learns nothing in between: no route, no trail, no record of where else you went. We could not reconstruct your day if we tried, because we are never sent it.

This needs the “always” location permission, because the alternative is only ever telling you about a place after you have already walked past it. You can switch proximity pings off at any time under Me, and the circles are removed from your phone when you do.

What companies can see

Nothing, by default. Creating an account does not make you visible. Being discoverable by companies is a separate, explicit switch on your profile, and you can turn it off at any time.

When you do switch it on, a company nearby sees your first name, your avatar, what you are open to, and roughly how far away you are - “320 m away”. They never receive your coordinates, your address or a position on a map. This is enforced in the product: the data sent to companies has no field for a location.

Who else handles data

• Supabase hosts accounts and app data, in the EU.
• Apple and Google handle sign-in if you choose “Continue with Apple” or “Continue with Google”. We receive an identifier and, if you allow it, your email address.
• Public job banks - STAR / Jobnet in Denmark, Arbetsförmedlingen in Sweden, the Bundesagentur für Arbeit in Germany - are the source of public job openings. We read from them; we never send them anything about you.

How long we keep it

Your position is used for the current session and not stored on your profile. A proximity ping records that you reached one named place, so the app does not mention it again for a week; that record is a place and a date, never a route. Your profile and preferences are kept until you delete your account. Messages are kept until you or the company delete them, or the account is deleted. Crash and technical logs are kept for at most 90 days.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how it is used, and complain to your national data protection authority (in Denmark, Datatilsynet). Most of this you can do yourself inside the app: pause discovery, hide yourself, turn off invitations, or delete everything. For the rest, write to hello@hellomynameis.io.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and everything attached to it from inside the app, or by request. Details are on the delete account page.

Children

The app is for people of working age and is not directed at children under 15. We do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
